The Republican figurehead is scheduled to host a two-day retreat in Palm Beach on Friday and Saturday. The gathering is anticipated to draw in over 400 influential donors and prominent politicians, providing a much-needed boost to Trump's finances, which have been significantly impacted by his ongoing legal disputes. The retreat also serves to reassure donors about the health of his campaign.
According to an invitation viewed by Reuters, the retreat is exclusively open to individuals who have raised $25,000 for the former president or couples who have raised $100,000.
Among the attendees are several individuals who are being considered for the vice-presidential nomination, including North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, US Representative Elise Stefanik, US Senators Marco Rubio, JD Vance, and Tim Scott, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.

Both Governor Burgum and Senator Scott previously vied for the 2024 Republican nomination before withdrawing. They have since publicly pledged their support for Trump as the GOP candidate.
The majority of the retreat will take place at the Four Seasons hotel in Palm Beach, with Trump hosting a fundraising lunch at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Saturday.

Attendees will receive a briefing on the state of the race from Trump's co-campaign managers, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, as well as his pollster Tony Fabrizio. They will also be briefed on "election integrity." Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, is also slated to deliver an address, as reported by Reuters.

"Trump is skillfully using his VP contenders as an added bonus at these events," said Ford O’Connell, a Republican operative in Florida. "He’s using this to raise money and change the news cycle."
Trump is also expected to hold a high-dollar fundraiser in New York on May 14.

This comes amidst speculation about the suitability of potential candidates, including Governor Noem, who recently faced severe online criticism after revealing her attitudes towards animals in an upcoming memoir.

In the memoir, a copy of which was obtained by The Guardian, Noem recounts an incident where she shot a 14-month-old puppy named Cricket for misbehavior. She also describes euthanizing a family goat in the same manner.
Some, including Trump advisers, believe that Noem's revelations in her book have jeopardized her chances of being selected as vice president.

Trump has spent the majority of the past three weeks in a New York courtroom, where he faces criminal charges related to hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
He is accused of multiple counts of falsifying business records to conceal the payments. The trial continued on Friday.
The former president also faces federal and state charges over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election and a federal prosecution over his mishandling of classified documents. However, it remains uncertain whether any of these three cases will go to trial before the election.
