Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), criticized mainstream media outlets on Tuesday for their portrayal of the ongoing trial of former President Donald Trump.

The former president is facing 34 felony charges related to a $130,000 payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, allegedly to silence her about a supposed affair during his successful 2016 presidential campaign.

Fox News aired a compilation of CNN and MSNBC anchors mocking Trump's appearance at the trial. Lara Trump, the former president's daughter-in-law, responded on "Fox and Friends," accusing the media outlets of being detached from the American public.

"These individuals are so unhinged and clearly disconnected from the citizens of this nation. They exist solely within their own echo chambers," the RNC co-chair told host Lawrence Jones. "Their fixation with Donald Trump is blinding them to the fact that it's not Donald Trump who is truly on trial here."

She continued, "It's our very democracy. Because today, it's Donald Trump you see in the courtroom for this entirely baseless, farcical show trial. But the implications for our country are profound. If we in America can arbitrarily manipulate the law when it suits us, if we let violent criminals roam free while prosecuting the innocent, if we're willing to subvert the will of the American people and attempt to oust our chosen president, then our nation's fabric is irreparably damaged."

MSNBC ran a six-hour-long coverage of the trial under the title "Trump on Trial." Fox News also covered the trial, providing legal commentary, but also reported on Monday's protests that blocked bridges in New York and California.

Lara Trump concluded, "I want to tell everyone something. It's not working. The American people voiced their support for Donald Trump yesterday, raising $1.5 million for his campaign. Lawrence, the average donation was $28. So even in this dismal Biden economy, people are stepping up and financially backing this president... The people of this country stand with him, and those voices you just heard do not represent even a single person across this nation."
