The concerned citizen attempted to alert the driver near Borden Avenue and Van Dam Street, but the driver continued down the industrial strip near Newtown Creek with the back door still ajar, as stated in the video posted on April 9.
"I was shouting, trying to get his attention to pick up the box," the man explained in the video.
He claimed to have retrieved a package marked "LifePort Kidney Transporter," a product of Organ Recovery Systems. It remains uncertain whether the box contained a kidney.
The box also displayed the logo of Organ Recovery Systems and a QR code that leads to the company's product manuals and instructions.

"Thankfully, I managed to retrieve at least this one," he said in the video, adding that the police were en route. "I'm not sure if he might have dropped more along the way... hopefully, someone informed him that the door was open."

The LifePort Kidney Transporter is an insulated, hypothermic container that circulates fluids through the organ to maintain and transport it for future transplant, according to the website of the Illinois-based manufacturer, Organ Recovery Systems.
