Emerson once stated that consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. Politicians practice that principle when they flip-flop on stated beliefs depending on where the political winds are blowing. However, the Biden administration has decided to practice inconsistency about how covid vaccination status affects who the United States admits into the country.

Fox News reports that FNC White House correspondent Peter Doocy confronted Biden administration spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre about the inconsistent policy. On the one hand, the Biden administration is refusing entry to tennis star Novak Djokovic to play in the US Open because he refuses to be vaccinated. On the other hand, because of its open borders policy, the White House is allowing thousands of illegal immigrants through the southern border with nary an inquiry into their vaccination status.

“How come migrants are allowed to come into this country unvaccinated, but world-class tennis players are not?” asked Doocy.

Jean-Pierre decided to sidestep the question. She replied, “The US government cannot discuss the details of individual visa cases. Due to privacy reasons, the US also does not comment on medical information of individual travelers as it relates to this tennis player.”

Doocy pressed the matter. “Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane. You say that’s not OK. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated. They’re allowed to stay?”

Jean-Pierre then committed a serious blunder by telling a lie from the podium. “That’s not how it works. ... It’s not like someone walks over.”

Doocy pounced. “That’s exactly what is happening. Thousands of people are walking in a day. Some of them turn themselves over. Some of them are caught. Tens of thousands a week are not. That is what is happening.”

According to the Epoch Times, Jean-Pierre responded by shifting to a description of how immigration policy has changed under the Biden administration. However, in roughly a year and a half since Biden took office, 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border unmolested, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). No one knows how many illegal immigrants the Biden administration has allowed into the country have been vaccinated. No one knows how many of them were sick with covid when they entered the United States.
