The deaths came in August 2021 during the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from the country under Biden. And during the return of their remains to the United States, Biden was snapped checking the time.
"One year ago today, Joe Biden checked his watch and Veterans @michaelgwaltz & @TonyGonzales4TX have something to say about it," the GOP tweeted.

Both Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) and Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) are veterans. "It's disgusting," Gonzalez said of the President inspecting his watch. Biden essentially said he didn't want to be at the dignified transfer of remains.
He added that many veterans may have seen that clip and thought, "This is why our government doesn't care about us."

Last week, the party passed a longer-form video to honor the anniversary of the bombing that killed the 13 Marines.

In it, Waltz says, "When it comes to Afghanistan, Joe Biden is either ignorant, lying, or both."
"Afghanistan was a monumental failure," Gonzalez added. Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) called the withdrawal "the most F-ed up military operation I've ever witnessed."

Also reflecting on the disaster was fellow veteran Texas Reps. Jake Ellzey (R) and Ronny Jackson (R).
Asked if the President was indeed checking his watch during the solemn ceremony, the White House dodged the question but did not deny it.

The 13 U.S. service members who were killed on Aug. 26, 2021, along with roughly 170 Afghan civilians when an Islamic State terrorist blasted a suicide vest outside the Kabul airport gates included 11 Marines, one Navy hospital corpsman, and one Army soldier. Dozens of other U.S. troops were also injured in the blast. The attack occurred as the United States led evacuation operations at the Hamid Karzai International Airport as the Taliban, including Haqqani Taliban faction forces, provided security outside the airport.

Their loved ones expressed deep frustration with Washington and President Joe Biden in particular, whom they accused of not caring about their loss. They also highlighted newfound ways to honor and promote the legacies of their loved ones, who died helping desperate Afghans flee the repressive return of Taliban rule.
