Conservative attorney L. Lin Wood announced he had been subpoenaed before a special grand jury in Georgia investigating accusations that former President Donald Trump tried to overturn the outcomes of the 2020 election.

"The devil is after me today!!!" Wood announced in a statement shared on Telegram late on Friday. "... the Fulton County DA attacks me as you can see from the email below to my attorney, Ibrahim Reyes, by demanding that I testify before the 'Trump Witch Hunt' grand jury!!!"

Wood, who gained fame after the 2020 election by promoting theories of fraud in the race, joins an increasing number of Republicans who have been requested to appear before the special grand jury to answer questions about Trump's claimed efforts to reverse his loss in Georgia, a battleground state that assisted in propelling Democrat Joe Biden to the presidency.

The investigation has involved Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; Trump's former chief of staff, Mark Meadows; Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani; and many of the former President's allies.

"I have NO relevant knowledge to offer to the grand jury," Wood's statement announced. "It is just harassment."

Wood shared a letter on Telegram addressed to his lawyer Reyes by Trina Lucas, a deputy chief investigator with the Fulton County District Attorney's office. Lucas informed Reyes that the "grand jurors have requested that we subpoena your client, L Lin Wood, to provide testimony before them."

The letter continued that if Reyes could not or would not accept the subpoena on Wood's behalf, "we will begin the material witness subpoena process."

Meanwhile, the FBI executed a search warrant of the Mar-a-Lago estate to recover what a magistrate judge announced was "highly classified" documents in Trump's possession. The search was part of a criminal investigation into claimed "willful retention" of classified information, theft of government records, and obstruction of justice.

Cannon, nominated by Trump and confirmed by the Senate about a week after his defeat in 2020, announced she intends to hold a Thursday in West Palm Beach on the former President's request for a special master. She typically convenes court in Fort Pierce, Fla., roughly an hour's drive north.

The judge's two-page order giving "notice of [her] preliminary intent to appoint a special master in this case" came less than a day after Trump's attorneys late Friday made a pitch for an independent review of the materials seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate and before prosecutors filed any reply.

Cannon did not indicate how she viewed Trump's allegations that the search was unnecessary and extreme. Rather, she requested Trump to file a brief replying to the Justice Department's produced list of seized materials. She further required both sides to describe the role they envision for a special master. And she requested DOJ to reveal the status of its filter review and whether any investigators outside of the review team had seen the seized materials.
