Following his departure from CNN, Chris Cuomo reportedly sought a career comeback that included a side hustle of fighting fire.

The former CNN prime-time host applied to be a volunteer firefighter in his swanky East Hampton neighborhood before pulling his application due to scheduling limitations during the weeks that followed his termination from CNN, the Daily Beast reported.

“It’s a very time-consuming thing. There are monthly meetings and drills, and you have to meet a percentage of your calls,” East Hampton Fire Department Chief Duane Forrester told the outlet. “That’s why we don’t have many celebrities.”

Cuomo drew attention last week for his attempt into the eastern front of Ukraine, where he stood beside Ukrainian soldiers, touring some of the wreckage and imploring people to pay more attention to the carnage half a world away. His website praises the headline "Free Agent" and hints that "something is coming."

The 51-year-old is expected to start a new podcast series titled The Chris Cuomo Project starting Thursday, with former 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang confirming he will be one of the first guests. A tweet from Yang included a picture of Cuomo donning a shirt with "FWD," an apparent reference to Yang's Forward Party, which aims to serve as a big-tent political party bringing Republicans and Democrats together on key issues.

Cuomo was fired from CNN last year over revelations that he assisted his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, combat sexual misconduct claims that eventually culminated in his resignation as governor. The then-anchor reportedly leaned on his media contacts to gather information about his brother's accusers. The former governor denied all allegations of inappropriate touching.

Donning sunglasses and a helmet, Cuomo traveled some of the wreckage in Ukraine and urged people to pay more attention to the bloodshed half a world away while chiding the lack of media coverage of the conflict.

"What is happening right now in Ukraine is bad and America should be paying a lot more attention," he wrote in an Instagram post. "I went to the eastern front. Shelling is intense and devastating. Why so little coverage here?"

"Shelling is destroying homes, schools, adults kids ... often with banned weapons say Ukrainians, showing us cluster bombs and describing mines that are tearing through young and old," he wrote in the post. "Warfare is like WW2. This is what Ukraine is desperate for: High Mobility Artillery Rocket System. They are essential to stop shelling. But they have far too few to counter what is coming."
