"I certainly don't think that's the right direction to go because what we're talking about is people that are not going to follow laws," Paxton announced throughout an appearance on Newsmax's "The Chris Salcedo Show." Paxton stated he didn't believe the gun control legislation was about to be effective in preventing another school shooting.

"I think what is effective is protecting these children at the point of entry, having school administrators and teachers ready to respond," he stated.
