While Fauci announced earlier this year that the United States was emerging from “the full-blown pandemic phase of COVID-19,” he has proceeded to caution the public regarding the risk of contracting the virus.

In April, Fauci chose not to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner out of concern regarding commingling indoors with more than 2,000 people. Although, he did attend a pre-party throughout the day leading up to the dinner.

Though his fervent advocacy for such measures has angered members of the GOP, like Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who has blamed Fauci for pushing fearmongering arguments regarding COVID-19 and squashing dissenting opinions about the need for lockdowns early in the pandemic.
