Abortion rights advocates have damaged at least three Texas Catholic churches.

The message “Pro-Choice is Pro-Life” was discovered written across the front door of one church Monday around 8:00 am, according to a report.

“It’s very unfortunate that people would desecrate the church like this, take their frustration out on the church,” Father Peter Damian Harris, pastor at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, said.

The report noted that its doors were opened 30 minutes before Mass and confession and closed immediately after the services.

“I’d rather take the necessary precautions, than run the risk of someone coming to desecrate our sacred space,” Harris said.

Two other Catholic churches in Katy, Texas, also fell victim to vandalism, according to the report.

Vandals at St. Bartholomew, the Apostle Catholic Church, tried to remove the tabernacle.

Intruders at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church sought to desecrate the Eucharist.

The damages likely derive from a Supreme Court leak suggesting the court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade, according to Harris.

“This won’t stop us,” he said. “It propels us to continue to be witnesses for Christ and the world.”

President Joe Biden lamented the failure in the Senate of Democrats’ bill to legalize abortion nationwide and end nearly all restrictions on the procedure.

“Once again — as fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court — Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act, a bill that affirmatively protects access to reproductive health care,” Biden said in a statement issued by the White House on Wednesday. “This failure to act comes at a time when women’s constitutional rights are under unprecedented attack — and it runs counter to the will of the majority of American people.”

Biden accused the Senate’s 50 Republicans, accompanied by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) of denying cloture on the bill. “Republicans in Congress — not one of whom voted for this bill — have chosen to stand in the way of Americans’ rights to make the most personal decisions about their own bodies, families and lives.”

The legislation was brought back following a draft Supreme Court opinion that would strike down the constitutional right to abortion and as Democratic activists blame Biden for failing to take action to thwart an outcome that would shift abortion rights back to the states.

The Women’s Health Protection Act of 2022, a version of which Democrats first introduced in 2021 before the leaked draft opinion, goes further than Roe v. Wade by guaranteeing a federal right to abortion through viability and beyond if a healthcare provider deems the procedure necessary “for the preservation of the life or health of the person who is pregnant.” It would also ban states from passing restrictions on abortion and threaten conscience protections for religious providers.
