Hispanics REJECT Dems Attempts To Turn Them Woke

Only a small part of Hispanic voters self-describe using "Latinx," a term made by Liberals , according to a national poll .

Two percent of Hispanic voters identify as Latinx, which many on the Left have used as an adjective to be inclusive of all Hispanic gender identities, according to a report citing a Bendixen & Amandi International survey. Nearly half of Hispanic voters are averse to the word, with 40% calling it "offensive."

Of Hispanic voters, 21% identified as Latina or Latino, 68% as Hispanic, and 8% as "something else." One percent had no response.

Of the 40% of respondents who regarded Latinx as offensive, 20% said it bothers or offends them a lot, 11% said it somewhat bothers or offends them, and 9% said it bothers or offends them "a little," the poll revealed. Fifty-seven percent said the term doesn't bother them, while 3% had no answer.

"The numbers suggest that using Latinx is a violation of the political Hippocratic Oath, which is to first do no electoral harm," Fernand Amandi said. "Why are we using a word that is preferred by only 2% but offends as many as 40% of those voters we want to win?"

The poll was administered among 800 voters of Hispanic origin between Nov. 17 and 21 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.46 percentage points.

The relative popularity of Latinx in online searches in the U.S. has increased since 2016, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of Google Trends data. While its earliest Google searches extend back to the early 2000s, the highest monthly relative number of searches for Latinx occurred in June 2020, surpassing a previous peak in October 2019.

Compared with June 2020, monthly Google searches for Latinx rose substantially for the first time in June 2016, following the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.

Even though it has increased in popularity, Google searches for Latinx are still below those for Latina, Latino and Hispanic over the past decade. Among these terms, Latina has shown the highest popularity, though its share of searches has been falling relative to its peak in June 2014.

Among those aware of Latinx, one-in-three say it should be used to describe the nation’s Hispanic or Latino population.

While some Hispanics say Latinx should be used as a pan-ethnic term, few say they favor it over other terms. A majority (61%) say they prefer Hispanics to describe the U.S.'s Hispanic or Latino population, and 29% say they prefer Latino. Meanwhile, just 4% say they prefer Latinx to describe the Hispanic or Latino population.
