The jury was also shown the rifle used in the killing, as well as a photo of the teenager shooting and killing a skateboarder in the chest following the confrontation with Rosenbaum.

Nonetheless, the defense argued Rittenhouse acted in self-defense after the man began beating him with the skateboard, allegedly to 'decapitate' him.
The jury in the politically charged case must decide whether Rittenhouse acted in self-defense, as his lawyers claim, or was engaged in vigilantism when the then-17-year-old opened fire with an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle purchased by his sister's boyfriend in August 2020, killing Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz, 27. Prosecutor Thomas Binger asserted that when mayhem broke out in Kenosha in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting, Rittenhouse was the sole individual who acted with reckless and malicious intent by shooting Rosenbaum in the back, shooting Huber in the chest, and shooting Grosskreutz in the arm.

He said the teen was pale, scared, and 'sweating like a pig.' He said in hindsight, Rittenhouse should not have been armed that night.
Rittenhouse faces two homicide counts, one of attempted homicide and two of recklessly endangering safety for firing his weapon near others. He is also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.
If convicted of first-degree homicide, the most serious of the charges against him, Rittenhouse could face life in prison.
