On Sunday, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned the International Olympic Committee and businesses around the globe for backing the 2022 Winter Games in China.

In an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Pompeo called it a "devastating statement" about their "unwillingness to present the challenges."

"You're going to have major American corporations sponsoring athletes and these games, supporting a regime that is holding a million people in internment camps in the western part of China," he said.

"We teach our kids, our young people, these talented athletes to speak freely, they're going to go to China," he said. "And if one of them should say 'free Tibet' or' good for the people of Hong Kong' or 'I support Taiwan,' they may not get their exit visa granted."p> "They may be stuck in China if they say something that the Chinese Communist Party determines is inconsistent with their national security threat," he said.

Pompeo also criticized the U.S companies for taking part.

"These American companies need to understand that they are underwriting an adversary," he said. "They're providing resources and money to a corrupt regime that has the global intention of changing the way every American lives. We need to challenge the Chinese Communist Party on every front."

"This is a serious challenge that confronts the United States of America, and we all need to be serious," he added. "And the way the Trump administration was serious, to confront China on every front, diplomatic, economic and military."

Pompeo said he hopes President Biden was serious about defending Taiwan if China invades the island nation and that it wasn't a "random comment."

Pompeo wouldn't state a certain timeline for when Chinese President Xi Jinping will try to take control of Taiwan, but he did indicate that it will happen in the next few years. Taiwan is self-ruled but regarded as a rogue nation by China.

After Beijing hosts the Winter Olympics next year, Pompeo told John Catsimatidis in an interview that aired Sunday on his WABC 770 radio show that Xi will be coming off a "high point" and "he will make the case for why Taiwan should be under their coercion and their watch."

"I saw President Biden say that we have a commitment to defend Taiwan. I hope that when he said that he was intent upon it. You can't draw a red line like that — you can't make statements like that — and not mean there's an expectation now that he will follow through on that commitment," Pompeo said.

"I hope the Biden Administration has thought that through, and it wasn't just a random comment from a president who wasn’t clear about what he was saying,” he said.
