Rare Photos Of The World's Longest Reigning Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II

Early Childhood

Elizabeth had become a loving, confident, and cheeky child by the time her parents returned from Australia in June 1927. Even on the Sandringham Christmas party table that year, she tossed crackers at the guests, a bit of which had been provided by her mother! Even King George V was not immune to Elizabeth's playful side. When the Archbishop of Canterbury dropped in on an audience with him, he discovered the King on all fours acting like a horse, with Elizabeth acting as the groom.
