The charges stem from accusations that Trump concealed payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to hide an alleged affair. Trump has consistently denied both the affair and any knowledge of the payments.
Piscopo explained to Cavuto that his attendance at the trial was a gesture of loyalty to Trump, following an exclusive interview he conducted with the former President earlier this month at a campaign event in Wildwood, New Jersey. Piscopo had anticipated being part of the general press group, but was instead invited by Trump into a VIP tent for a private conversation.

"Donald Trump gave me an exclusive interview for not a long time, about five minutes, but I just I chatted with him. The motorcade came in, he came right to me. I’m Italian. I don’t forget loyalty, you know what I’m saying? I’m telling you, I don’t forget these things," Piscopo stated.

Piscopo further explained that his presence at the trial was a sign of respect for Trump, particularly in light of the exclusive interview he had been granted. He also revealed that he had proposed a "presidential inner-city task force" to Trump, aimed at revitalizing struggling cities. According to Piscopo, Trump was enthusiastic about the idea and expressed interest in having him on the task force.

"I said I’m going to show up just to show respect to President Trump," he said. "That’s all that was, a sign of friendship. I’ve known him 100 years, and we’ve always had a nice relationship, so I wanted to show loyalty because there’s none of that anymore. The President showed me great loyalty in Wildwood so I wanted to show up."
