Parents of students attending some of America's most prestigious universities are expressing their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs on campuses, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

With annual tuition fees exceeding $90,000, these parents are demanding refunds and reconsidering future enrollments, citing a lack of the quality education they had anticipated for their children.

Zev Gewurz, a Boston-based real estate attorney, whose daughter is a senior at Barnard College in New York City, expressed his disappointment with the institution's handling of hate speech incidents. "They are not getting the education they expected and paid for," Gewurz stated. He criticized Barnard's response to the hate speech incidents as "inadequate." Barnard College, originally established as a women's college adjacent to Columbia University, charges over $90,000 for attendance.

Gewurz shared his attempts to console his daughter amidst the turmoil, stating, "I try to tell her that this is not her fault, and that she is living in a moment in history and needs to keep her head high."

Debra Lynn Eden, whose daughter is a junior at Princeton, echoed Gewurz's sentiments, lamenting the distractions hindering students' academic pursuits. "It’s all a giant distraction to the students who are trying to complete their studies in a high-stress environment," Eden said.

Christopher Rim, founder and CEO of Command Education, a company assisting students with college applications, revealed that parents of students at Columbia and the University of California – Los Angeles are demanding refunds. He explained, "Physically blocking their child from attending class or a lecture hall is 100 percent not what they signed up for. They are beyond upset at what’s going on."

Rim further disclosed the extent of parents' concerns to the London Times, stating, "I’ve had so many parents emailing, calling, asking me what they can do. There’s been protests, encampments and physical violence that has interrupted their education and they’re not happy. Fees at these sorts of schools are phenomenally high; parents want to feel like they are getting what they pay for and right now they don’t."

The cancellation of commencement ceremonies due to protests has further fueled parents' frustrations. Lana Shami, whose daughter is set to graduate from the University of Southern California without a ceremony, expressed her disappointment, stating, "There will be no celebration at the university where we paid an exorbitant amount of tuition for the past four years. It’s a huge letdown."

Amy Gallatin, another parent of a Barnard student, voiced her concerns to Fox News, stating, "This is not the experience that my freshman daughter should be having, that any of the students of any year should be having." Gallatin recounted her daughter's experience of taking a final exam amidst raging protests, describing it as "a very unsettling experience."

In a report by CNN, an anonymous Jewish high school senior opted against attending Barnard due to the protests, choosing instead Brandeis University in Massachusetts, which received an A rating from the Anti-Defamation League for its support of Jewish students. The student expressed relief at the decision, stating, "I feel so glad I am going to Brandeis. I feel really happy and safe knowing they got an A."

These incidents underscore the growing dissatisfaction among parents of students attending elite universities, raising questions about the value of the exorbitant tuition fees amidst the ongoing campus unrest.
