In the wake of a devastating tornado outbreak in Oklahoma, a young boy's heroic actions have saved his parents' lives.

Wayne and Lindy Baker, residents of Dickson, Oklahoma, are currently in intensive care with severe injuries, including broken backs and necks. Their survival, however, can be attributed to the bravery of their 9-year-old son, Branson.

Over the weekend, Oklahoma was hit by fifteen tornadoes, resulting in widespread destruction. The violent storms claimed the lives of at least four individuals, injured dozens, and left many without homes or businesses. Amidst this chaos, the Baker family found themselves in the direct path of a tornado.

The Bakers were en route to a safer location when their truck was lifted and thrown by the tornado. The couple sustained severe injuries, with Wayne suffering from a broken back, neck, sternum, ribs, and arm, and Lindy with a broken back, neck, jaw, ribs, and right hand. Lindy also suffered a punctured lung.

Despite the harrowing circumstances, their son Branson managed to escape the wreckage and run over a mile through the dark, dodging downed power lines and debris to seek help. According to Branson's uncle, Johnny Baker, the young boy navigated his way back to the crash site using the intermittent light from lightning strikes.

"The last thing Branson told them was, 'Mom, dad, please don't die, I will be back,'" Johnny Baker recounted.

The Bakers, who are independent contractors, are now unable to work due to their injuries. In response, Branson's baseball team held a fundraiser and dedicated a game to the family, with players donning stickers on their helmets in support.

"Branson is small, but he is so mighty, he is a hero," reads a statement on the family's GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $10,000 to aid in their recovery.

Johnny Baker expressed optimism for his brother and sister-in-law's recovery, attributing their survival to Branson's quick thinking and courage. "He had to become his parent's superman and go do what he had to go do. That's exactly what he said. He said, 'I have to save my parents,'" Johnny Baker said.

The Bakers are currently recovering in the ICU at OU Medical Center, their survival a testament to their son's bravery amidst the chaos of the storm.
