A Texas to Tokyo flight was abruptly cancelled last week following concerns over the pilot's erratic behavior during a late-night hotel party, as reported by the Mainichi.

The 49-year-old captain of the Japan Airlines flight was questioned by police, prompting the airline to suspend the flight to assess the pilot's mental and physical health.

The incident occurred after the pilot, whose identity has not been disclosed, attended a dinner with fellow crew members in Dallas around 6 p.m. The group continued their revelry in the hotel lounge and later in the pilot's room.

According to the Mainichi, hotel staff intervened around 2 a.m., requesting the group to lower their noise levels. The pilot's speech and behavior, described as disruptive, raised concerns, leading to the police being called.

The police questioned the captain and issued a warning against causing further disturbances. Despite this, Japan Airlines decided not to permit him to fly the following day. The scheduled 1:05 a.m. flight was subsequently cancelled as a replacement pilot could not be found in time.
