A U.S. Border Patrol agent was reportedly fired upon by armed individuals near El Paso, Texas in the San Elizario area on Thursday afternoon. The shots were allegedly fired from the Mexican side of the border, with the agent returning fire, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
As per an internal alert from the CBP, the armed individuals did not cross into U.S. territory.

The El Paso Times reported that the agent was targeted from the Mexican side of the border during a "use of force" incident. The incident occurred before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, near the San Elizario area.

Ali Bradley reported that this incident follows another one last week, where an illegal immigrant was reportedly stabbing other illegal immigrants in the El Paso sector. A National Guard soldier, deployed under Operation Lonestar, shot the assailant.

In February, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press." During the interview, he sidestepped all accountability for the border crisis.
When asked by Kristin Welker if he bore responsibility for the situation at the border, Mayorkas responded, "We don't bear responsibility for a broken system."
