In a series of foreign policy missteps, President Joe Biden's administration is facing another potential debacle.

This follows the controversial decision to hand over the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan to the Taliban in September 2021.

The Bagram Airfield, a significant military base in Afghanistan, was abandoned by the Biden administration in July 2021 after nearly two decades of American presence. The departure was executed under the cover of darkness, with the electricity shut off and the base's Afghan commander left uninformed until more than two hours after the Americans had left.

The Taliban swiftly seized control of the Bagram Air Base, located just 30 miles north of Kabul, on August 15th. The takeover led to the release of thousands of terrorists imprisoned at the base. The Taliban also inherited military equipment, uniforms, rations, and other supplies left behind by the Americans and Afghans.

Among those released was ISIS suicide bomber Abdul Rehman, who had been incarcerated at the Bagram prison for the past four years. Rehman went on to execute a suicide bombing outside the Kabul Airport, resulting in the deaths of 13 American servicemen and women and 169 Afghans.

The Biden administration's foreign policy is now under scrutiny once again, this time concerning the situation in Niger. The circumstances in Niger could potentially surpass the Afghanistan withdrawal in terms of severity.

During a recent US House of Representatives' Armed Services Committee hearing, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) questioned US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth, revealing the precarious situation of US troops in Niger. According to Gaetz, the troops are stranded without access to water and medicine, and the Biden State Department appears to be outmaneuvered once again.

Wormuth, along with General Randy George, testified before the House Armed Services Committee on April 16th. Gaetz's revelations left Wormuth, a potential DEI hire, speechless.

The military junta in Niger, backed by Russia, has reportedly offered to release the 1,000 US soldiers trapped at the base in exchange for the keys to the $100 million American airbase in the country. This situation raises questions about the competence of the Biden administration and the US military.

In March, Niger suspended its military agreement with the US. According to a White House report to Congress, the US military had approximately 650 personnel working in Niger in December. The US military operates a significant airbase in the Niger city of Agadez, using it for surveillance flights and other operations.

The airbase, known as Air Base 201, was built at a cost of over $100 million and has been used since 2018 to target ISIL (ISIS) fighters and Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), an al-Qaeda affiliate, in the Sahel region.

However, the Biden administration has reportedly agreed to the junta's terms. The Agadez airbase will be evacuated and left available to the Russia-backed military junta.

The Independent.ng reported that Washington has confirmed plans with Niger's military rulers to withdraw its more than 1,000 troops and close down its drone base near the city of Agadez in the Sahara desert.

Niger, located in Africa's Sahel region, is considered the new global epicenter of the Islamic State group. The US has relied on Niger as its primary base for monitoring regional jihadist activity. An American delegation is set to head to Niger's capital, Niamey, within days to arrange an orderly withdrawal.
