In a recent interview, Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania expressed his disagreement with President Biden's decision not to involve the United States in an offensive operation against Iran.

This stance was revealed during a conversation between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

CNN host Jake Tapper questioned Senator Fetterman about his views on this matter, asking whether he believed that direct U.S. military action should be considered, as some of his Senate colleagues have suggested.

"I don't agree with that, I just think we should follow and have Israel's back in the situation. I don't agree with the president. That doesn't change anything that he‘s a fantastic president. I‘m proud to stand with him and campaign for him and vote for him," Fetterman responded.

Tapper also asked Fetterman to comment on Senator Marco Rubio's statement that the White House's disclosure of the Biden-Netanyahu conversation was "offensive." Rubio suggested that this move was an attempt by Biden to "appease the far left in his party."

Fetterman responded by saying, "The president is entitled to his own views and whatever he decides to do. But I would never capitulate to the fringe. I'll never pander to that as well. In fact, that empowers Hamas and Hamas, they're actually convinced they're winning the PR war. And they’re never going to negotiate at this point. They think that they’re going to hold onto the very end."

He further criticized Hamas for not providing any proof of life for the hostages they hold, and for continuing to hold over 100 Israeli hostages. Fetterman argued that Hamas could end the war today if they released the hostages.

This conversation occurred against the backdrop of Iran launching a large wave of attack drones and missiles towards Israel on Saturday. The Times of Israel reported that this was the first-ever direct attack on Israel by the Islamic Republic.

Earlier on Saturday, Netanyahu had stated that Israel had been preparing for a direct attack from Iran for weeks. He assured that Israel's air defenses were deployed and ready for any scenario.

The White House, on the same day, reiterated the United States' "ironclad" support for Israel's security, pledging to stand with the Jewish state and "support their defense" after Iran's aerial drone attack.

In the same interview, Fetterman was asked about his concerns regarding former President Trump's potential victory in Pennsylvania. He acknowledged Trump's popularity in the state but expressed confidence in Biden's ability to win.

"Trump, of course, he's very popular here. I‘ve been saying that same thing eight years ago in 2016. And I was concerned and now, I’d like to point out that Joe Biden is the only American that ever beat Trump politically. And he’s going to do it again. And he’s going to carry Pennsylvania. And it‘s going to be close," Fetterman said.
