During the 2020 presidential election, the rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, sparked a social media frenzy when he urged his substantial following to support Trump, in reaction to Biden's proposed tax plan.

Jackson later reinforced his stance when he concurred with Trump's senior adviser Katrina Pierson, stating he did not wish to be "20cent". "Yeah, I don’t want to be 20cent. 62% is a very, very bad idea. I don’t like it," he tweeted.

However, following media controversy, Jackson later retracted his statements. Speaking to Extra, he revealed that he had declined an invitation to the 2017 inauguration as a demonstration of his anti-Trump sentiments. "I turned down a million dollars to go to the inauguration [in 2017] — why would I just switch gears now?" Jackson stated.
