In a recent statement, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, affirmed the military's readiness for a "multi-front war" against Iranian proxies.

This announcement comes as the IDF prepares to transition from defense to offense against Hezbollah terrorists along the northern border.

Halevi's statement follows accusations from Tehran that the Israeli military conducted an airstrike in Syria, resulting in the death of two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders last week. In response, Halevi assured that the IDF is prepared for any retaliatory attempts from Iran and its proxies.

"IDF troops are prepared and operating in all arenas, in the south [near Gaza], in the north [near Lebanon], in Judea and Samaria and in more distant arenas," Halevi stated. He further emphasized the IDF's capability to deal with Iran both offensively and defensively, stating, "We prepared for this, we have good defense systems, we know how to act powerfully against Iran in places near and far."

The IDF Chief of Staff also criticized Iran for its support of terror organizations that have wreaked havoc in Israel and the region, including Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The IDF recently revealed that troops are transitioning from defense to offense against Hezbollah, following months of lethal skirmishes along the northern border. The military stated, "In recent days, another phase of the Northern Command’s preparations for the war was completed, which centered around raising the capabilities of emergency operational depots for the purpose of large-scale recruitment of IDF forces when necessary."

The IDF also announced that its reserve forces would soon be ready for deployment at the front lines, equipped with all necessary combat gear. This potential offensive incursion into Lebanon could escalate the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has seen ongoing rocket fire exchanges since Hezbollah initiated its assault against Israel in solidarity with Hamas's terrorist attack on October 7.

The conflict has resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands in northern Israel and southern Lebanon, with nine civilian deaths in Israel and 40 in Lebanon, as reported by Israeli and Lebanese officials. The Israeli military estimates that the attacks have also claimed the lives of eleven IDF soldiers and over 200 Hezbollah fighters.

Despite the escalating situation in the north, Halevi stated that there would be no changes to the ongoing conflict with Hamas in the south. He said, "The war in Gaza continues, and we are far from stopping," referencing the need to secure hostages and locate Hamas' senior command.

Halevi's declaration of the IDF's readiness for war mirrors the sentiments of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who recently stated that the terror group was "fully prepared" for war against Israel.
