But four years on, I’m tired of hearing, 'Well, we didn’t know.' No, we didn’t. But some people guessed better than others. The people who got it wrong don’t seem to want to acknowledge that now."

He further pointed out that some critics correctly predicted that prolonged school closures would have severe collateral damage on children. He also referred to a headline from The Daily Beast four years ago that labeled his endorsement of the Wuhan lab leak theory as a conspiracy. Maher noted that the theory is now widely accepted, with even the Biden administration conceding that the virus could have originated from the Wuhan lab conducting gain-of-function research.
