A recent report has highlighted the ongoing trend of books about President Biden underperforming in comparison to those about the Trump administration.

This has led to some accounts of the current President's tenure being entirely abandoned.

Simon and Schuster, a renowned publishing house, has reportedly withdrawn its contract with Alex Thompson, Axios’ national political correspondent, for a book about the Biden administration. This information was revealed in a report titled "Biden book bust casualty" by Politico Playbook on Wednesday.

Thompson's proposed book was initially slated for publication earlier this year. Confirming the news in a post, Thompson stated, "[I]t’s true. But still writing it and aiming for 2025 to tell the story of the Biden presidency."

The report further elaborated that books about Biden's presidency have generally "sold relatively poorly," particularly when contrasted with "best-sellers about predecessor Donald Trump." Despite the setback, Thompson is reportedly in active discussions with other publishers and continues to work on the draft.

Several books about Biden, including Gabriel Debenedetti's "The Long Alliance," have seen modest sales. According to NPD BookScan, "The Long Alliance" has sold "around 1,500 hardcover copies," while Chris Whipple’s ‘The Fight of His Life’ has sold approximately 5,000 and Franklin Foer‘s 'The Last Politician' around 12,000."

In stark contrast, Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury," which delves into the Trump administration, reportedly sold close to a million copies. Wolff's sequel to his first book, titled "Siege: Trump Under Fire," depicted the Trump administration as besieged on all fronts. The book sparked a media frenzy due to its negative portrayal of the president and his family.
