In a shocking revelation, a pastor from Victorville, California, has been apprehended and charged by the police for allegedly orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot against his daughter's boyfriend.

Samuel Pasillas, 47, is accused of offering a sum of nearly $40,000 to Juan Manuel Cebreros, 55, and others to execute the murder in October 2023.

Riverside police, in a press release on Tuesday, stated, "Detectives discovered evidence during their investigation that the father had met with the men he hired, providing them with information about the victim, including his location, on the evening of the shooting." The police further added, "It was also determined that these men were paid almost $40,000 by the father and had conducted surveillance on the victim in the weeks leading up to when they shot him."

The incident came to light on October 21 last year when the Riverside police responded to a hospital report of a man who had arrived with gunshot wounds from a shooting that occurred around 7 p.m. in the Orangecrest neighborhood. The victim, an adult male, reported that he was driving when another vehicle pulled up alongside his, and someone from that vehicle started firing at him. He was hit multiple times, according to the police.

The victim managed to drive himself to the hospital for treatment. The police were able to retrieve evidence from the shooting scene. Subsequent investigations by the Riverside Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Unit, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Crime Analysis Unit revealed that the shooting was a premeditated murder plot.

"The victim had been dating a woman whose father is a pastor for a Spanish-speaking church in the city of Victorville," the police said, identifying Pasillas as a suspect. Pasillas, the 47-year-old pastor, now faces charges of solicitation for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently held on a $1 million bond.

Cebreros was later arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. He too is being held on a $1 million bond. The investigation into the shooting is still underway, and the Riverside police have requested anyone with information about the incident to contact Det. Nic Cantino.
