Robert F Kennedy Jr, a prominent figure in the Kennedy family and an independent candidate for the 2024 presidential election, has asserted that he enjoys the support of "many" of his family members.

This statement comes in the wake of a recent family gathering at the White House, where several Kennedys were seen endorsing President Joe Biden, with RFK Jr conspicuously absent.

In an interview with News Nation's Chris Cuomo, RFK Jr stated, "Many other family members are working for my campaign. Many other family members support it." However, he did not specify which family members he was referring to.

The Kennedy family's White House visit coincided with the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The family, spanning several generations, was photographed with President Biden, a picture that was later shared on social media platforms. The family also used this opportunity to express their support for President Biden. Kerry Kennedy, RFK Jr's younger sister, wrote on social media, "@POTUS President Biden, you make the world better."

RFK Jr, however, downplayed the significance of the photograph, stating that it represented "a very small percentage of my family." He also referred to President Biden as an "old friend" of the Kennedy family. He further claimed to have played a role in organizing the White House visit, expressing his hope that some family members had taken the opportunity to request Secret Service protection for him from President Biden.

RFK Jr's campaign has reportedly requested Secret Service protection five times, with the most recent request being denied in February by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, according to Newsweek.

This is not the first time RFK Jr has faced public disapproval from his family. Following his announcement to run for president, several family members issued a statement condemning him as "dangerous" and "perilous for our country." Kerry Kennedy, speaking on behalf of four family members, stated, "Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment."

Jack Schlossberg, JFK’s grandson, also criticized RFK Jr, labeling him an "embarrassment" to the family name and accusing him of exploiting the family's legacy for personal gain and fame.

RFK Jr has been accused of propagating conspiracy theories, particularly about the Covid-19 vaccine. He has made unfounded claims linking vaccines to brain disorders and alleged that the virus was "ethnically targeted" to attack Caucasians and Black people.

His controversial views have reportedly caused a rift within the Kennedy family. RFK Jr initially filed candidacy papers for the Democratic nomination but later decided to sever his family’s longstanding ties with the Democratic party and run as an independent candidate. In a Fox News interview, he confessed that leaving the Democratic party was "very, very difficult" and "very painful."

RFK Jr acknowledged the disagreements within his family, stating, "I understand that many of them disagree with me on the war in Ukraine. They disagree with me on Covid, on some of the public health issues. They disagree with me on the free speech issues." Despite these differences, he emphasized the importance of maintaining familial bonds, adding, "So, you know, we can disagree with each other in a friendly way and still love each other."
