Former President Donald Trump has reportedly made a decision regarding his potential running mate, ruling out entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, as per a recent report.

According to Bloomberg News, Trump personally informed Ramaswamy of this choice before it was publicly disclosed. The report states, "Trump personally told Ramaswamy he won’t be his vice presidential pick, according to people briefed on the discussion, but is considering him for posts including Homeland Security secretary." Some of Trump's associates view Ramaswamy as a strong candidate for the role due to his oratory skills and background as an Indian-American immigrant, which could help mitigate criticisms of stringent immigration policies.

Despite the setback, Ramaswamy has remained a steadfast supporter of Trump, endorsing and actively campaigning for him following his own withdrawal from the Republican primary race.

Sources familiar with Trump's considerations reveal that he is seeking a running mate who prioritizes substance over publicity, aiming to gain a strategic advantage in the electoral contest against President Joe Biden. Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with the current pool of potential candidates, with his list of prospects expanding rather than narrowing.

Additionally, the report suggests that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is being viewed as a leading contender for the role of chief of staff, a position he declined during Trump's previous administration in pursuit of the Speakership.
