A 33-year-old woman from Florida has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to sell her infant daughter outside an H&R Block establishment, as per law enforcement authorities.

Jessica Woods, a resident of Palatka, was detained last week and charged with various offenses including unlawfully abandoning her child, attempting to exchange the child for monetary gain, aggravated child abuse, and three counts of child abuse without causing significant bodily harm.

In a statement released by the Palatka Police Department, it was revealed that Woods had been lingering around a local business with her 18-month-old daughter for several days in early March.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, "As Woods used the H&R Block restroom to change the child, the worker witnessed the mother hit her daughter with her elbow and then spank her, according to the probable cause affidavit."

The authorities noted that the infant had a visible bruise on her face.

The following day, a bystander purportedly spotted Woods sleeping atop an air conditioning unit with her child nearby in a shopping cart.

The baby allegedly started crawling towards a busy thoroughfare, as detailed in the police report. An employee reportedly intervened and picked up the child.

During the incident, Woods reportedly approached an employee of the establishment and inquired about selling her baby for $500. Despite the offer, the employee declined.
