In a recent advertisement, President Biden, the oldest sitting U.S. President, addressed his age and its implications on his presidency.

"Look, I'm not a young guy. That's no secret," he candidly admits in the ad. However, he quickly pivots to highlight his experience, stating, "But here's the deal, I understand how to get things done for the American people."

The advertisement then proceeds to outline his accomplishments, including his response to the pandemic, his stance on climate change, his efforts to reduce prescription drug prices, and his handling of the economy. The 81-year-old President also takes the opportunity to criticize his likely opponent in the upcoming election, former President Donald Trump.

Biden points out Trump's failure to pass an infrastructure law, contrasting it with his own success in doing so. He also criticizes Trump's impact on women's rights, stating that Trump "took away the freedom of women to choose." This is a reference to the three conservative justices Trump appointed to the Supreme Court, who were part of the majority that overturned Roe v. Wade, effectively eliminating the federal right to an abortion.

"Donald Trump believes the job of the president is to take care of Donald Trump," Biden asserts in the ad. "I believe the job of the president is to fight for you, the American people. And that's what I'm doing."

Despite his accomplishments, Biden's age and perceived cognitive abilities have been a point of contention among voters. A CBS News poll conducted in late February revealed that only 32% of respondents believed Biden has the cognitive and mental health to serve as president, compared to 49% for Trump.

In a light-hearted moment at the end of the ad, Biden jests, "Look, I'm very young, energetic and handsome — what the hell am I doing this for."

The advertisement is part of a $30 million ad campaign targeting battleground states and will be aired on digital platforms, national cable, local broadcast, and cable television in several key states. The campaign has also secured airtime on popular networks such as ESPN, TNT, FX, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central, with plans to run the ad during the March Madness NCAA college tournament.
