The Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED), a comprehensive repository of all diagnoses recorded using International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes, has reported a significant increase in the number of active-duty military personnel diagnosed with transgenderism.

This information was shared by Lt. Ted Macie, an active-duty Navy Medical Service Corps officer, who noted that the rise in occurrences has been exponential, particularly within the Army and Air Force, between 2016 and 2022.

Lt. Gen. (ret.) Rod Bishop, chairman of the board at Stand Together Against Racism and Radicalism in the Services (STARRS), a national advocate for veterans against Critical Race Theory (CRT) and woke ideology in the military and service academies, expressed his concerns about this trend in an interview with The Gateway Pundit. Bishop, a devout Christian, emphasized that while he is "welcoming and loving to all," the issue of transgenderism in the military cannot be reduced to a "live and let live" approach.

Bishop argued that the rise in transgenderism is causing a disruption of Western norms for a family, signifying a departure from traditional American values. He further asserted that this issue is divisive to military readiness, as it disrupts unity and cohesiveness, which are essential for military preparedness. Bishop cited examples of service members with certain religious beliefs being forced to share rooms with transgender individuals, causing discomfort and disruption.

Bishop also shared that most service academy cadets are uncomfortable with the idea of showering with someone who is transitioning. This sentiment is particularly strong among female cadets who do not wish to shower with a male who is transitioning.

Bishop criticized the "liberal cabal in Washington" for embracing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ideology without conducting thorough research on its origins. He labeled the ideology as "Marxist" and accused it of causing disruption, to the detriment of military readiness.

In a survey conducted last fall, 59 percent of the 229 participants reported having served with someone who identifies as transgender. Over 92 percent expressed moral or religious objections to transgenderism. Nearly 91 percent, or 208 out of 229 respondents, claimed that DEI training has detracted from combat readiness training. Over 93 percent felt that they were being forced to accept beliefs about transgenderism that they did not personally hold.
