Musk took to social media on Tuesday morning, urging those in the greater Austin area to vote for a new District Attorney. He shared a video from Democratic DA candidate Jeremy Sylestine, who criticized the current DA's office for allowing the backlog of cases to exceed 6,000.

Garza assumed office in 2021, vowing to "reimagine" the criminal justice system and put an end to "over-prosecution" and police misconduct. Garza, however, has defended his policies, asserting that he is fulfilling his electoral mandate by reforming the criminal justice system, standing with survivors, working to end police brutality, and prioritizing treatment over incarceration for nonviolent drug offenses, as reported by Fox Business.
