Two suspects, Lyndell Mays and Dominic Miller, involved in the Kansas City Super Bowl Parade shooting, are considering utilizing the "stand your ground" law as part of their defense strategy.

The incident resulted in the tragic death of a woman and left several others, including children, injured.

As reported by KWCH, legal experts suggest that Mays and Miller could potentially build strong cases under Missouri's "stand your ground" law, which is enforced in over 30 states across the country. Daniel Ross, a trial attorney, emphasized that this law presents a robust defense, shifting the burden to the prosecution to disprove claims of self-defense in shooting incidents.

The shooting occurred amidst a crowd of approximately 1 million fans gathered in Kansas City to celebrate the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory on February 14. In a statement to law enforcement from his hospital bed, Mays admitted to initiating the gunfire, expressing regret for his actions and attributing his behavior to a sense of foolishness and feeling threatened by a perceived threat on his life.

Both Mays and Miller face charges of second-degree murder, with the recovery of a stolen firearm at the crime scene further complicating the legal proceedings. Marques Harris, a witness and friend of Miller, asserted that Miller only resorted to firing his weapon in response to Mays' initial shots.
