In a significant blow to Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action), a conservative group associated with billionaire Charles Koch, has decided to withdraw its financial support for her campaign.

This decision follows Haley's defeat in the South Carolina primary, as reported by Politico.

Politico obtained an email from Emily Seidel, CEO of Americans for Prosperity, in which she stated that AFP Action, the political division of the organization, would cease funding Haley's campaign. Seidel expressed continued support for Haley's fight, but acknowledged the difficulties ahead.

"She has made it clear that she will continue to fight and we wholeheartedly support her in this effort," Seidel wrote. "But given the challenges in the primary states ahead, we don’t believe any outside group can make a material difference to widen her path to victory."

AFP Action has been a staunch supporter of Haley since November, driven by their belief that the Republican Party's future is at risk with former President Donald Trump as its presidential candidate.

"If Donald Trump is at the top of the Republican ticket, the risk of one-party rule by a Democratic Party captured by the Progressive Left is severe and would do irreparable damage to the country," Seidel wrote. "The last three election cycles have painted a very clear picture of what we can expect from voters who consistently rejected Donald Trump and his impact on the Republican party brand."

Seidel also suggested that Trump's legal troubles could further tarnish the Republican brand. Trump is scheduled to stand trial in March in New York over payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. He also faces federal election interference charges and allegations of mishandling classified documents, as well as election interference charges in Georgia.

Despite AFP Action's withdrawal, Haley continues to receive support from other quarters. Mark Harris, lead adviser with SFA Fund Inc., the primary group backing Haley, confirmed their continued support for as long as she remains in the race.

Trump responded to the news on the Truth Social social media platform, stating, “AMERICAN’S FOR NO PROSPERITY HAVE JUST STATED THAT HALEY HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN, AND THEY WILL STOP FUNDING HER CAMPAIGN, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!”

Haley, undeterred by her South Carolina loss, has indicated her intention to stay in the race at least until the Super Tuesday elections on March 5.

"In the next 10 days, another 21 states and territories will speak," Haley said. "They have the right to a real choice, not a Soviet-style election with only one candidate. And I have a duty to give them that choice."

Eric Levine, a Haley donor, expressed the sentiment of many in the Reagan wing of the party, stating, "Those of us from the Reagan wing of the party want her to stay in because we want to remind people we are still here. We’re not winning without the Reagan wing of the party, and Nikki Haley represents that wing."

Levine also suggested that Haley could be a viable alternative should Trump's legal troubles escalate. "If something happens, she’s the one who can pick up the pieces," Levine said. "It makes sense for her … to stay in, continue to gather delegates. She has the money to do it."
