Tech mogul Elon Musk has reported that the first human recipient of a brain chip from his company Neuralink is faring well, with no adverse effects and the ability to manipulate a computer mouse using their thoughts.

In a recent X Spaces conversation, Musk disclosed that the patient, who underwent the groundbreaking implant procedure in January, has shown remarkable progress. Musk stated, "Progress is good. Patient seems to have made a full recovery with no ill effects that we are aware of and is able to control the mouse, move the mouse around the screen just by thinking."

Musk further detailed Neuralink's objective of enhancing the patient's capabilities with the computer mouse, aiming to go beyond mere cursor control to include dragging content on screens. The company's initiative targets individuals with quadriplegia due to spinal cord injuries or ALS, with the goal of enabling them to operate external devices through brain signals.

Neuralink's innovative approach involves a surgical robot implanting a chip in the brain to wirelessly transmit neural signals to an app for decoding movement intentions. This technology empowers users to interact with computers using their thoughts exclusively, a concept Musk highlighted during the X Spaces discussion.
