Research from the University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital, as reported by Live Action, even suggests that with "aggressive" treatment, "90% of babies born with Edwards syndrome can go home from the hospital, and their five-year survival rate can reach close to 77%."

Despite these promising developments regarding trisomy 18, Cox, a mother of two other children with her husband, Justin, decided that carrying Chloe to term could potentially jeopardize her future fertility. After the Texas Supreme Court denied her an exemption from the state's fetal heartbeat law, Cox traveled to New Mexico, where the termination of unborn children is legally permissible with minimal restrictions.
