Tucker Carlson's U-Turn: CONDEMNS Putin After Navalny's Death

This comes just days after Carlson released a series of videos that painted a positive picture of Russia, including an interview with Putin himself.

In an exclusive statement to DailyMail.com, Carlson expressed his horror at the news of Navalny's death. "It's horrifying what happened to Navalny. The whole thing is barbaric and awful. No decent person would defend it," he said. It is currently unclear whether Carlson is still in Russia.

News of Navalny's death was announced by Russian media outlets on Friday morning. The Siberian prison service, where Navalny was serving a nineteen-year sentence for 'extremism', confirmed his death, sparking global outrage. "On February 16, 2024, in correctional colony No. 3, convict Navalny A.A. felt unwell after a walk, almost immediately losing consciousness," said a statement from prison officials. "Emergency doctors confirmed the death of the convict," it added.

Global leaders, including the Latvian president, have pointed fingers at Putin for Navalny's death. This comes a week after Carlson released an interview with Putin, where the Russian president controlled the narrative and made several claims about his invasion of Ukraine. Throughout the interview, Carlson praised Russia, calling Moscow "so much nicer than any city in my country."

Carlson faced criticism for not mentioning Navalny's imprisonment during the interview. Responding to this at the World Government Summit, he controversially stated, "every leader kills people, leadership requires killing people."

In another video, Carlson praised Russia for its low grocery store prices and fresh produce. He was seen wheeling a grocery cart around a Russian superstore, marveling at the stock. However, this video drew widespread ridicule online, with many pointing out the disparity between the average wage in Russia and the US.

Navalny was last seen via video link during a court hearing on Thursday. He appeared to be in good spirits, even displaying his trademark humor. Navalny's mother, Lyudmila, had visited him in the prison colony on Monday. "He was alive, healthy, cheerful," she said at the time.

Navalny's spokesperson, Kira Yarmysh, said on the X social media platform that she was unable to confirm his death. Navalny's lawyer was reportedly en route to the prison where he had been serving his sentence.

Leonid Volkov, a Navalny aide, said, "The Federal Penitentiary Service in the Yamalo-Nenets District is disseminating news about the death of Alexei Navalny in IK-3. We don't have any confirmation of this yet. Alexey's lawyer is now flying to Kharp. As soon as we have any information, we will report it."
