In the wake of the Hur report, Democrats have been seen to shift their narrative from anger to a more dismissive stance, even attempting to disprove the findings of Special Counsel Robert Hur.

Despite the futility of this approach, the change in tone was most evident in President Joe Biden's response.

"I've been around, I know I don't look like it, but I've been around awhile," Biden humorously remarked during a speech on Monday. "I do remember that."

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has also been scrutinized for her cognitive abilities, defended Biden's leadership capabilities. Speaking to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, she highlighted Biden's relative youth compared to herself, seemingly to downplay his frequent memory lapses.

Pelosi stated, "He's younger than I am, so what do I have to say about his age? But he is, again, knowledgeable, wise." She further emphasized Biden's experience, comparing it to the recent football game where "experience prevailed."

Cooper, known for his support of Biden, added to the chorus of voices claiming Biden's coherence behind closed doors. He recalled a podcast interview with Biden on the subject of grief, where Biden was "fully present, fully cognizant."

However, Pelosi's defense of Biden has been met with skepticism. Critics argue that Biden's public persona does not reflect the sharp, engaged leader that his supporters describe. Despite assurances from Vice President Kamala Harris and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that Biden is the "smartest man in the room," Biden's public appearances often contradict this narrative.

Biden's cognitive abilities have been a topic of concern since the beginning of his presidency. Critics argue that his public appearances often reveal lapses in memory and coherence. This was evident in a recent press conference where Biden failed to convincingly counter his critics.

Critics suggest that the Republican ad team should juxtapose Pelosi's defense of Biden with clips of Biden's public appearances that contradict her portrayal. This would effectively highlight the discrepancy between the image of Biden presented by his supporters and his actual performance.

The argument is that not only is Biden unfit to lead from an ideological perspective, but also from a standpoint of stamina, sharpness, and coherence. Critics believe that the best way to make this case to the American public is to let Biden's public appearances speak for themselves.
