Democratic Senator Joe Manchin has expressed concern over the Biden administration's perceived shift towards the far left, sparking speculation about his potential presidential candidacy.

In a conversation with CNN, Manchin voiced his apprehension about a possible second term for President Biden, which he fears could be influenced by a cadre of 'far, far-left liberals' within the White House staff.

Despite his critique of the current administration, the West Virginia senator described Biden as a "good, decent man." He also expressed alarm at the prospect of former President Trump returning to the White House, stating it would be "very much concerning to every human being."

Manchin, who is due to complete his Senate term in 2024, announced last November that he would not seek re-election in West Virginia. The 76-year-old senator, in his announcement, acknowledged that most Americans are "just plain worn out" with Washington politics and pledged to seek 'middle ground.'

In a bid to connect with the American populace, Manchin has embarked on a tour across the country. While there is no set timeline for his decision, speculation is rife about his potential presidential bid. Manchin has consistently maintained that the United States cannot function from extremes and is reportedly being considered as a presidential candidate by the moderate third-party group, No Labels.

According to CNN, if Manchin decides to run, he would aim to secure the spots on state ballots currently being held by the group. However, critics argue that his candidacy as a third-party candidate could inadvertently aid Trump in securing a second term.

Manchin believes that the electorate has never been as 'displeased' with the likely candidates as they are presently. However, he expressed concern over recent polls that cast doubt on Biden's chances of securing a second term.

A series of polls released in January indicate Trump leading in a direct contest against President Biden. Manchin has been critical of the former President, suggesting that democracy could be at stake if Trump returns to the White House. He told CNN that such a prospect should be "very much concerning to every human being and every person who basically loves the country that we have, and the life that we have, and trying to have a future for our children and future generations."
