In a recent appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem engaged in a spirited exchange with host Dana Bash.

The conversation centered around the ongoing crisis at the southern border, with Bash seemingly defending the Biden administration's handling of the situation. Noem, however, was not swayed by Bash's arguments.

Bash posed a question to Noem, asking, "What happened to the art of the deal?" This question seemed to imply that former President Donald Trump was to blame for the current border crisis, despite President Joe Biden having been in office for three years. Noem countered this assertion, arguing that Biden could take immediate action to address the situation if he so chose.

"The senators are really good at spinning a story to make themselves look good. What I would say is that I always look for someone who’s willing to take action and President Biden has all the authority he needs to take action today," Noem stated.

Bash attempted to deflect blame from Biden, suggesting that the border crisis was not entirely his fault. She pointed out that Biden had dismantled Trump's "remain in Mexico" policy in his first week in office, halted the construction of the border wall, and seemingly invited illegal immigrants to make their way to the border.

In response to Bash's question about why the federal government should not work towards improving the asylum and detention processes, Noem argued that Biden could rectify the flawed immigration policy if he demonstrated good faith.

"I think that he would have the ability to fix that broken immigration policy if the President could show that he was acting in good faith. Make an announcement that you’re changing your policies, you’re reallocating resources and going to start protecting the United States of America," Noem responded.

Noem expressed her dissatisfaction with the current border deal being discussed in Congress, a bill that Trump has also publicly opposed. She referred to the bill as a "poison pill," arguing that it would essentially legalize illegal immigration.

Noem also expressed her support for Texas and Governor Greg Abbott in their efforts to address the border crisis, despite the obstacles presented by the Biden administration.

"Texas should stand their ground. They should enforce their state law and go back to the constitutional rights that they have been granted to protect their state sovereignty. And that's what so many of us as governors are offended by, is that Democrats were threatening to encourage the president to activate our Guards in order to get them to stand down and not protect our states," Noem said.

She further criticized the Biden administration's handling of the border crisis, describing it as a "war zone" and praising Texas for its efforts to protect its citizens.

"The disaster at the southern border is a creation of Joe Biden and his incompetent administration. For Bash and her progressive mainstream media friends to pretend otherwise is a farce. Good for Noem for pushing back and telling it like it is," Noem concluded.
