In a recent development, the U.S. Justice Department has concluded that former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed at least 13 state employees.

This conclusion, announced on Friday, confirms the allegations that led to the Democrat's resignation and were the result of a damaging misconduct probe.

The allegations against Cuomo first came to light in August 2021 when New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that a four-month investigation had found that Cuomo had sexually harassed multiple women. "Cuomo violated state and federal law," James stated, adding that he created a hostile work environment for both current and former state employees.

The investigation culminated in a 165-page report that painted a grim picture of the work environment under Cuomo's administration. The report stated that the environment was "rife with fear and intimidation," which not only allowed harassment to occur but also fostered a hostile work environment.

The Justice Department's conclusion on Friday echoes the findings of the report released by James. According to ABC News, the settlement between New York and the Justice Department resolves the federal agency's sexual harassment investigation of Cuomo and outlines additional steps the state will take to address misconduct complaints.

Cuomo, who was once considered a rising star in the Democratic party, was forced to resign in 2021 following the release of James' report. Despite the allegations and the subsequent investigation, Cuomo has continued to deny any wrongdoing. He has argued that James' report was politically motivated, intended to force him out of office so she could run for governor.
