During a speech in Wisconsin on Thursday, President Joe Biden made a surprising statement about his administration's future.

While discussing infrastructure and the economy, Biden declared that 2024 would be the "last year" of his presidency. This remark raised eyebrows, as it seemed to suggest that Biden had forgotten about the possibility of running for re-election and serving another term if he wins in November.

Addressing the crowd at the Earth Rider Brewery in Superior, WI, Biden posed a question regarding tax rates. "Raise your hand if you want to trade your tax rate now for 8 percent," he asked those in attendance. He emphasized the significance of this proposal, highlighting that it was not a fabrication: "It sounds like I'm making this up: 8 percent, what [billionaires] pay."

Biden further explained that he had put forth a minimum tax of 25 percent on billionaires, arguing that if they and big corporations paid "even close to their fair share," the United States could strengthen Social Security and Medicare, as well as reduce the cost of childcare and eldercare.

The President firmly asserted that implementing these changes would benefit working-class and middle-class individuals without incurring any additional costs. "Working-class and middle-class people would all be better off," he stated, "and it wouldn't cost a penny." Biden justified his proposal as a matter of "just basic fairness," emphasizing that it was the right thing to do.

Confident in his ability to achieve these goals, Biden declared, "We can get this done, and I'll be damned, in the last year of this administration, I'm going to get it done."

Recent polling, however, suggests that this may indeed be the last year of the Biden administration. The President is trailing behind his predecessor in several key states and nationwide, raising doubts about his chances for re-election.
