In a recent development, the city of Seattle has agreed to a $10 million settlement with a group of 50 activists associated with Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM).

These individuals were involved in the 2020 riots during the so-called "Summer of Love" in Seattle and subsequently sued the city over the police response to the unrest.

The settlement, after deducting legal fees, will result in a six-figure payout for each activist, rewarding their attempts to destabilize the city. The settlement documents, obtained by The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, state, "Nothing contained herein shall be construed as an admission of liability on behalf of the City." However, the settlement sends a clear message: riot in Seattle, assault police officers, and receive a substantial payout from Seattle taxpayers.

The list of recipients includes a diverse range of activists, some with criminal records, some who are public school teachers, and some who are both. Eight of these individuals have confirmed associations with Antifa. One notable recipient is Ian Golash, a teacher and department head at Chief Sealth High School in the Seattle Public School district. Golash, who teaches Ethnic Studies and World History, was a visible presence during the 2020 unrest and has multiple arrests in Washington.

Golash recently failed a student on a quiz for stating that men can't get pregnant. He also displays posters glorifying Hamas terrorists in his classroom and has denied that Hamas raped Israeli women on Oct. 7, 2023. A parent recently filed a complaint against Golash, alleging that he told their son that being "straight" was offensive during a "Social Identity Wheel" exercise.

Also included in the lawsuit is the family of Summer Taylor, an activist who was killed while marching on a freeway in July 2020. Taylor was part of a group of protestors who began marching on the freeway during the deadly occupation of the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood following the death of George Floyd. On July 4, 2020, Dawit Kelete drove onto I-5 in downtown Seattle and hit Taylor and another activist, Diaz Love, resulting in Taylor's death and Love's critical injury.

Taylor's family filed a lawsuit against the city and the State of Washington, alleging police abuse during demonstrations and that state patrol failed to protect protesters on I-5, leading to Taylor's death. Diaz also filed suit but is not listed on the settlement.

According to the settlement, by accepting the payout, the plaintiffs release all "past, current, or future claims that are subject to release under local, state, and federal laws, against the City and all of its past, current, or future agents, employees, and officers."

Other activists receiving payouts include Timothy "Tim" Dean Kauchak, a former police officer with a conviction for stalking, who now works for the Washington Department of Labor as a Health and Safety Compliance Officer. Kauchak sued the city after being hit by a flash bang grenade during a riot in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle in early June 2020.

Megan Buss, a pastry chef who also served as a sentry and garbage collector for the CHAZ autonomous zone, sued the city after being hit by nonlethal ammunition during one of the 2020 riots. Nima Forghani, an Iranian-American Boeing engineer, sued the city, claiming that police shoved him with their shields during a riot, causing flashbacks to his childhood in Iran.

Malichi "Bryauna" Howe, who identifies as "differently sexed" and uses they/them pronouns, rioted in Seattle in May 2020 and claimed to have been hit in the hand with a non-lethal ammo round which partially amputated his thumb. Jesse Hughey, arrested for assaulting an officer the night before the deadly autonomous zone was established, sued the city after being hit by non-lethal ammo and being tackled by police.

Logan Miller, who works for the Freedom Education Project Puget Sound, a group that attempts to abolish women's prisons, admitted in court documents to attending riots or protests three to four times a week during the summer of 2020. He sued the city after being hit by a flash bang grenade.

Many of the other radicals are listed in Antifa Watch’s database. This settlement, while not admitting liability, appears to reward those who participated in the violent unrest that rocked Seattle in 2020, raising questions about the city's approach to handling such incidents.
