In a recent interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined to delve into discussions surrounding former President Donald Trump's alleged "cognitive disorders."

".

This came moments before Pelosi momentarily confused President Biden with his predecessor.

Maddow's question to Pelosi was centered on Trump's recent attempt to criticize the former speaker for her response to the events of January 6. However, Maddow seemed to confuse Pelosi with GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley. "We’ve heard Nikki Haley's perspective on Trump's confusion and mistake. But your thoughts remain unknown, and I’m curious to hear them," Maddow said.

Pelosi responded by stating she wouldn't dedicate much time to discussing Trump's "cognitive disorders," before experiencing a minor slip-up herself. "I’m not going to devote too much time to Donald Trump’s cognitive disorders," she said. "He tried to claim that Nikki Haley prevented the National Guard from intervening, but it was not Haley, nor was it Nancy Pelosi. It was nobody. It was Joe — it was Donald Trump. He knows, and you know, that Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, and I pleaded for hours for the National Guard to intervene."

Pelosi continued, "He knows that we don’t have the authority to deploy the national guard, only the president does. Unfortunately, this is the case for the District of Columbia, unlike other states where the governor has that power. So, I’m more concerned about what he was trying to accuse her of, and again, his many misrepresentations. But let's not devote too much time to him. We don’t agonize over him."

During a speech in New Hampshire last Friday, Trump seemed to mix up Haley and Pelosi. He claimed that Haley, his former ambassador to the United Nations, was responsible for the failure of Capitol Hill security during the January 6, 2021, riot. Trump has previously accused Pelosi of rejecting National Guard support prior to the riot.

Pelosi also commended Biden and Vice President Harris' ticket and campaign team as they gear up for the election year. "When he lies, I mean, he’s a habitual liar. But when he lies, sometimes, you have to pay attention," she said, referring back to Trump. "For instance, he lied and said, 'ObamaCare is terrible.' Listen when he says that. Of course, it isn’t. The Affordable Care Act heals."

The former House Speaker suggested that Trump didn't have the "best interests" of the people at heart. "So, let’s move forward. Let’s forget about him and his dysfunction, and understand that we have to mobilize our vote. We have to mobilize on the ground," she added.

Trump was projected to win New Hampshire's GOP primary on Tuesday. "I’m very honored by the result," Trump told Fox News Digital in a statement. Haley congratulated him on the victory, but noted that the race was "far from over."

"Now you’ve all heard the political class chatter. They’re falling over themselves declaring this race is over. Well, I have news for them: New Hampshire is first in the nation. It is not last in the nation. This race is far from over," she said.
