The prospect of a second term for former President Donald Trump has sparked a wave of fear among liberal factions, a spectacle that has been met with amusement by conservatives.

However, the escalating intensity of the so-called Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) among some leftists is increasingly concerning and warrants the attention of conservatives and potentially the Secret Service.

Alex Soros, the son of renowned left-wing investor and philanthropist George Soros, is a prime example of the adage, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." In 2023, he assumed control of his father's philanthropic endeavors and told the "Wall Street Journal," "We think alike," referring to his father. This sentiment, while unsettling in itself, was further amplified when he added, "I'm more political."

This political inclination was glaringly evident when he tweeted about an article from The Atlantic discussing crime and inflation and the theories behind them. However, his tweet included a picture juxtaposing a bullet hole and a hand holding $47, a rather blatant display of his views.

Threats against former President Trump are not a new phenomenon. They began immediately after his inauguration in 2017, with pop icon Madonna stating, "I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House." Another notable instance involved comedian Kathy Griffin, who faced a Secret Service investigation for a photo of a bloody Trump look-alike head. The question now is whether Alex Soros will face similar scrutiny.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, in an interview with fellow former Fox News host Dan Bongino, voiced a concern that may have crossed the minds of many conservatives regarding the progression of TDS. He suggested that the left's tactics against Trump, which began with protests, moved to impeachment, and then to indictment, might escalate to assassination, given that all previous attempts to thwart Trump have failed.

If Trump is reelected, Republicans anticipate another outcry from the left, possibly resembling the events of January 6, 2021, but originating from the opposite political spectrum. The left has previously demonstrated its capacity for violence in relation to Trump, as evidenced by the attacks on his inauguration day and during the 2020 Republican National Convention when Senator Rand Paul was assaulted by leftists. The question is whether the rhetoric from the left will become increasingly violent, spurred on by comments like those of Alex Soros. It only takes one individual, more unstable than the rest, to feel compelled to act on what Alex Soros is seemingly advocating.

Alex Soros's decision to post such a tweet, perhaps under the assumption that his family name would protect him from investigation, was remarkably unwise. However, it raises the question of how many others are not so openly expressing their intentions. It is clear that neither George Soros nor his son have America's best interests at heart. When individuals like the Soros' reveal their true colors, it is wise to take them at their word.
