Former Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, who was relieved of his duties at the United States Space Force in May 2021, testified before Congress on Wednesday.

His dismissal followed his criticism of what he perceived as Marxist-inspired Critical Race Theory teachings within the military. During his testimony, Lohmeier expressed his concerns about "the ongoing Marxist inspired efforts to subvert and weaken our military and broader American society."

Lohmeier stated that his removal from command was a result of his book, which he wrote to counteract the growing politicization of the uniformed services. "Specifically, I criticize the military's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings which at my own base, were illegally occurring despite an executive order from the commander in chief," he elaborated.

He described the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion industry as being deeply rooted in Critical Race Theory and anti-American Marxist ideology. He observed that such trainings were creating ideological divisions among the troops and, in some instances, fostering animosity towards the country they had pledged to defend.

Before promoting his book, "Irresistible Revolution: Marxism's Goal Of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military," Lohmeier had lodged a formal complaint with the Space Force Inspector General's Office. He alleged that violations, including illegal race-based discrimination, were taking place. However, his complaint was dismissed by then-Lieutenant General Stephen Whiting, who was recently confirmed for his fourth star. Lohmeier received a written dismissal of his complaint from General Whiting personally after just two months.

Lohmeier also revealed that Pentagon officials have requested $140 million to expand work diversity initiatives in the fiscal year 2024, which is double the amount allocated in the previous two years. He expressed his dissatisfaction with this, stating, "There are a few things taxpayers such as myself feel less essential to the mission of the United States military than expanding diversity mandates and indoctrination."

He concluded his testimony by stating, "Such aggressively opposed ideological worldviews, competing for institutionalization through policy epitomizes and formalizes what is properly termed a culture war. The fact that these debates now infect the US military workplace is an offense to people like me, who love their country and all people regardless of their race, gender, sexual preference or background."
