Roger Stone, a right-wing political operative and close ally of former President Donald Trump, is now the subject of an investigation by Capitol Police following a recording in which he discussed the need to assassinate Representatives Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Eric Swalwell.

The FBI is reportedly assisting Capitol Police in this matter, although specific details about the investigation have not been disclosed.

The recording, which was published by Mediaite last week, captures Stone expressing his desire for the deaths of Nadler and Swalwell prior to the 2020 presidential election. Stone's words were explicit: "Either Swalwell or Nadler has to die before the election. They need to get the message. I'm just not putting up with this s--t anymore."

According to Mediaite's source, Stone's remarks about assassinations were not isolated incidents and were not made in a joking manner. This suggests a concerning pattern of behavior on Stone's part.

Initially, Stone denied the existence of the recording that Mediaite reported on. However, after its publication, he changed his stance and claimed that the recording was a fabricated product of artificial intelligence.

It is worth noting that Stone has a history of legal troubles. In 2019, he was convicted on charges of lying to Congress, obstruction of Congress, witness tampering, and other offenses. In the final days of his presidency, Trump granted Stone a full pardon.

The investigation into Stone's remarks underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating his comments. The involvement of both Capitol Police and the FBI suggests that they are taking this matter seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and security of elected officials.
