Recently disclosed CCTV footage from the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, has raised serious questions about the veracity of the testimony given by Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus during the Oath Keepers trial, according to investigative journalist Steve Baker of Blaze Media.

Baker had previously written an analysis in October, casting doubt on Lazarus' testimony, which played a significant role in the conviction of the Oath Keepers. He pointed out discrepancies between Lazarus' claims and the CCTV footage, which showed Lazarus in different parts of the Capitol complex at the time he claimed to have witnessed interactions between former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn and the Oath Keepers.

Access to the January 6 videos was strictly limited, with viewing only possible on Washington, D.C., House subcommittee terminals. Furthermore, at the time of Baker's October 4 analysis, Blaze News was only allowed to publish a single screenshot of Lazarus in the Capitol, due to a hold on video permissions following the ousting of then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

However, in early November, U.S. Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-Georgia) released multiple screenshots of Lazarus' movements in the Capitol on January 6. Loudermilk told Baker that he did this because "an allegation of a Capitol Police officer lying under oath is very serious and must be fully investigated."

On November 17, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced that nearly all Capitol security videos from January 6 — almost 40,000 hours of footage — would be made publicly available online. This announcement came after Blaze News editor-in-chief Matthew Peterson appealed to the speaker to release all the videos.

Baker reported on Friday that Blaze News had finally received permission to publish the Lazarus video clips. These clips were included in a new video published by BlazeTV on Monday morning, titled "The Truth about January 6: Part III: David Lazarus: Proof of Perjury."

Baker's announcement was a response to Tarik Johnson, a former Capitol Police lieutenant, who stated that his sources informed him that "USCP Chief J Thomas Manger has decided NOT to investigate the allegation that USCP Special Agent David Lazarus gave false testimony in the Oath Keepers trial."

In the BlazeTV video, Baker meticulously analyzes Lazarus' movements within the Capitol complex, using the time-stamped video clips from the Capitol's CCTV cameras. He argues that Lazarus could not have seen Dunn with the Oath Keepers, as he claimed in his testimony, because the CCTV footage shows Lazarus was in a different building a quarter of a mile away at the time.

Baker also revealed that the newly released videos showing Lazarus' movements were never disclosed to the Oath Keepers' defense attorneys during the trial. He suggested that this revelation should deeply concern the Capitol Police, citing messages from sources at the Department of Justice in Washington who were reportedly "terrified" of this story.

Baker also shared a screenshot of an internal email among Capitol Police leadership, indicating their concern about the traction the story was gaining. The email concluded with, "Something for us to keep an eye on to see if it develops or not."

In response, Baker commented, "Now this is interesting about the Capitol Police that they're more worried about the traction of their story than they are worried about the lie that their special agent told on the stand in the Oath Keepers' trial."

The Capitol Police did not immediately respond to Blaze News' request for comment on the newly released CCTV footage of Lazarus.

Baker's investigative work has also resulted in two additional analyses focusing on Dunn: "January 6 and the N-word that wasn't" and "Harry Dunn's account of January 6 does not add up. At all."
