In a recent episode of Jessie Watters' show, the host suggested that the government has been manipulating pop star Taylor Swift for its own purposes, a theory initially proposed by Jack Posobiec, Senior Editor at Human Events.

Watters claimed that the government was using Swift as a "psy-op" tool, a statement that has since been refuted by Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh.

Singh dismissed the theory in a statement to Politico, cleverly incorporating lyrics from one of Swift's hit songs. She said, “as for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off.” Singh continued her playful approach, using Swift-related puns to highlight the need for Congressional approval of the Pentagon's supplemental budget request. She stated, “But that does highlight that we still need Congress to approve our supplemental budget request as Swift-ly as possible so we can be out of the woods with potential fiscal concerns."

The theory was first proposed by Posobiec on December 6, 2023, following Swift's win of the Times Person of the Year award. Posobiec posted on social media platform X, "The Taylor Swift girlboss psyop has been fully activated. From her hand-selected vaccine shill boyfriend to her DINK lifestyle to her upcoming 2024 voter operation for Democrats on abortion rights."

Posobiec later invited Evita Duffy onto his show to discuss the potential of Swift rallying support for President Joe Biden in the 2024 election. Duffy questioned the promotion of Swift, stating, "She's a girl boss, she has a lot of failed relationships where she blames the man every time." Posobiec responded, "What we're seeing is actually a very advanced psychological operation, whereby in ... she is going to shill for Biden, and she is going to turn her massive, ... extremely massive fan base for Biden in this election, because they know they need people like Taylor Swift."

Watters echoed these sentiments in a clip he posted on X, where he mentioned a 2019 NATO meeting that discussed using Swift to combat "online misinformation."

The media attention surrounding Swift has surged over the past year, with Pennsylvania even passing a resolution to dedicate 2023 as the "Taylor Swift Era." However, Posobiec's theory has not been without criticism. After his initial post in December, an MSNBC host criticized him, to which Posobiec responded, "This MSNBC gooner is LOSING IT that I called out the Taylor Swift op."
