In a recent development, Jaime Williams, a Democratic Assemblywoman from New York State, has called on the Biden administration to shut down the southern border.

This comes in response to the arrival of migrants at her daughter's school, which led to a shift to remote learning for the students.

During her appearance on "The Ingraham Angle," Williams underscored the need to address the escalating migrant influx, cautioning that the city is ill-equipped to manage the rising numbers of asylum seekers. "Why wait till tomorrow? Our districts are benefactors of lawlessness. We can't wait until tomorrow," Williams expressed to Laura Ingraham on Wednesday. She further emphasized, "We have to turn off the main at the faucet, and that is closing our borders. Plain and simple."

Williams continued to express her concern, stating, "There's no tools to find. There's no new words to invent. It's plain English. Close the borders and let's deal with the situation instead of putting the American citizens in a predicament where you have other people over them. It's unfair to each and every taxpaying American, not only in my district but in this country." She concluded, "It is not fair to us."

Earlier this week, nearly 2,000 migrants were relocated from a tent shelter at Floyd Bennett Field in New York City to James Madison High School due to weather-related issues. This decision, which led to the school's closure for virtual learning on Wednesday, sparked bipartisan criticism from lawmakers and parents. They accused the city of prioritizing the needs of asylum seekers over those of their own children.

Describing the incident as "disruptive," Williams voiced her uncertainty about future developments if the current influx is already displacing students from their classrooms. "Definitely concerning as a parent, as a representative for the area, very disruptive to our students," Williams said. "It's not fair to our parents. I was also there this morning and the community is just outraged, because here you have the migrants being placed over our own children and our community. What's next?"

Williams is not alone in her criticism. NYC Comptroller Brad Lander also expressed his disapproval, stating that the decision to house migrants at Floyd Bennett Field "highlights the mismanagement and waste of money that is all-too-present in City Hall’s approach to shelter and services for asylum seekers."

Mayor Eric Adams, despite facing criticism for the relocation, has been in a recent dispute with the federal government. He has been urging the Biden administration for assistance as migrants are transported to his city and other sanctuary cities across the country. Adams recently stated that New York City is at a "breaking point" and cannot accommodate any more illegal immigrants.
